Global steel industry gathers in Istanbul this October

Senior representatives, investors and decision-makers from the global steel industry will convene in Istanbul on October 25–27, 2026 for Steel Networking Summits 2026. The event expects to host over 500 high-level participants from more than 80 countries, alongside 40-plus international speakers.

Türkiye's standing in the steel sector played a decisive role in bringing the summit to Istanbul. The country ranks as the world's seventh-largest steel producer and the largest in Europe, while also holding the fifth spot among global steel exporters. Shipping steel to more than 200 countries, Türkiye sits at the heart of international supply networks.

The summit's agenda covers supply-demand dynamics in global steel markets, the impact of trade wars on the industry and recent developments across European, American, African and Asian markets, as well as the green transition and sustainability. The programme also features scheduled business meetings, buyer delegation events and dedicated networking sessions. A special opening event on the Bosphorus will set the stage, with the aim of forging connections that translate directly into trade deals.

Uğur Dalbeler: Istanbul is the natural meeting point for steel trade

World Steel Association President Uğur Dalbeler described the summit as a strategic gathering for the global steel industry. "Türkiye holds a very strong position in global steel trade with its production capacity, export capability and extensive market network. Istanbul is the window through which this strength faces the world," Dalbeler said, noting that trade routes stretching from Europe to Asia and the Middle East to Africa all intersect in the city.

Dalbeler added that the summit would shape the industry's future as much as its present. "This event will make it easier for our companies to access new markets and pave the way for contacts that can turn directly into trade. We believe it will further strengthen Türkiye's strategic position in global steel commerce," he said.
