Welded steel tube

Welded steel tube is a tubular steel product made by forming steel strip or sheet and joining the abutting edges along a longitudinal seam. The manufacturing line determines the tube’s cross-sectional shape, dimensions and dimensional precision. Different forming, welding and sizing stages can be combined to produce round or shaped sections. This concept covers industrial production, processing and modernization of welded tube lines, including equipment for forming, welding and final sizing. It applies to structural tubes and other applications where controlled dimensions and tolerance requirements are important, while remaining distinct from seamless tube made without a longitudinal weld. Welded steel tube is a reusable product and process concept rather than the name of a specific mill, equipment supplier or individual tube line.
