Tosyalı Algérie’s DRI II sets new monthly productivity record
Tosyalı Algérie’s DRI II facility produced 248,601 tons of DRI in May 2026, with an average production rate of 334.1 tons per hour, according to Midrex Technologies.
Tosyalı Algérie’s second direct reduced iron facility, DRI II, reached a new monthly production and productivity record in May 2026. The plant operated continuously during the month and produced 248,601 tons of DRI.
According to figures announced by Midrex Technologies, DRI II’s average production rate reached 334.1 tons per hour in May. That exceeded the previous monthly high of 328.6 tons per hour recorded in January 2026.
For the January-May 2026 period, the plant’s average productivity was 316.9 tons per hour. The figure was above both its 2025 annual average of 312.7 tons per hour and its design value of 312.5 tons per hour.
DRI II has an annual production capacity of 2.5 million tons. The facility can produce both hot and cold direct reduced iron, and its integrated setup transfers hot DRI to an electric arc furnace by conveyor.
The DRI II module produced 2.43 million tons in 2025, setting a world record for annual output by a single DRI module. The May 2026 result reflects continued high-capacity operation during the plant’s first full operating period.
